Jenny M. Sakhrani, CFO of Philosopher's Stone Ventures,
Guest Lectures at The Entrepreneurship Class at UCI's Graduate
School of Management
March 6 -7, 2001, Irvine, CA -- As part of her on-going
support of the graduate school community, Philosopher's
Stone Ventures's CFO, Jenny M. Sakhrani, participated in
a guest lecture series for Entrepreneurship: Planning the
New Venture, a core class taught at the Graduate School
of Management at the University of California, Irvine.
The project course, taught by Dr. Kaye Schoonhoven, Professor
of Organization and Strategy, focuses on entrepreneurship
as a social process, rather than a transaction, whose goal
is to create a new organization in order to create financial
or social value. The course, open to full-time and fully-employed
students, involves real-world examples and advice from the
business community.
"Going to these classes and speaking directly with
the students about how they can start their own businesses,
value their companies, and get funding is enormously rewarding,"
noted Sakhrani. "Their efforts keep our investment
community energized, and we're able to give them seasoned
advice about how to found companies that will have impact
in the marketplace."
The guest lectures involve allowing noted members of the
business and investment communities to present various topics
and participate in one-on-one question and answer sessions.
Typically, the presenters address issues including what
investors look for in business plans, how they decide to
invest, and what entrepreneurs can do to target their proposals
to the funding sources.
